Abstract
Labels warning of the health risks involved in consuming alcohol could cause some people to consider drinking less, according to results from the Global Drugs Survey 2018.

The data was taken from 130,000 people in 44 countries.

The company created seven health messages to be used as labels on drinks warning of potential risks from drinking alcohol.

These included ‘drinking less reduces your risk of seven forms of cancer’ and ‘heart disease is a major cause of death among people with heavy alcohol use’.

Over 62% believed the messages, but fewer than 33% found them to be relevant. Over 54% said the messages would not make them think about drinking less.

The Global Drugs Survey says its findings 'support the call for mandatory health warnings on alcohol’.
