Abstract
Food and drink businesses are being encouraged to take part in the Derbyshire Food Festival which kicks off from 16-25 May.
The festival, which is being backed by the renowned Brian Turner and organised by the Derbyshire County Council, will host a range of taste-testing sessions, cookery demonstrations, tours, locally-sourced menus, competitions and talks. Dozens of Derbyshire restaurants, cafes, shops and food producers across the county signed up to the food festival last year holding a range of events to mark the week. Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for regeneration Councillor Geoff Carlile said: "Derbyshire boasts a wealth of top quality food and drink and the fair and festival are excellent opportunities for businesses to show off what they do. "Many businesses are having a tough time at the moment and we are trying to do all we can to support them. "As well as helping businesses attract new customers and raise their profile, the food and drink fair and festival attract thousands of visitors to the area and boost the local economy." Businesses and producers wanting to take part in the Derbyshire Food Festival should contact Steph Walsh at Derbyshire County Council on 01629 585964 or email stephanie.walsh@derbyshire.gov.uk
