Abstract
There is still time for fledgling chefs to cook their way to glory in Essential Cuisine’s search for the North West’s best young talent, North West Young Chef 2015.

The Stock People have extended the deadlines in all six regions – Cheshire (4th March), Cumbria (6th March), Greater Manchester (11th March), Merseyside (20th March), Flintshire (25th March) and Lancashire (27th March) – giving local chefs the tantalising opportunity of an automatic seed into the semi-finals of The Young National Chef of the Year competition, plus £500 in cash.

Introduced three years ago, county heat winners also get to attend a masterclass with an acclaimed chef prior to the final as an opportunity to hone particular skills with the industry’s best. Last year’s finalists enjoyed a session with Aiden Byrne at Manchester House and also had the honour of meeting the renowned Pierre Koffmann.

Essential Cuisine Managing Director, Nigel Crane, comments: “The spotlight of competition is where many of today’s most successful chefs have earned their stripes. Not only will our 2015 winner get the kudos of wining such a prestigious competition, they will also be able to go on and test their skills against the best young chefs in the UK. We recognise how busy modern kitchens can be which is why we’re offering this one-off extension for chefs to get involved.”

Now in its 13th year the competition calls upon chefs to produce a three-course meal for two with an emphasis on local and seasonal produce.
