Culinary legends share top tips at Manchester festival

Renowned chef Michel Roux will be among some of the top culinary legends to share his recipe tips as the citylife.co.uk Manchester Food and Drink Festival approaches.
Back for its 11th year, the festival, which will be kicking off from this Friday until the 13th October, will be hosting over 150 events, with one of the top attractions being – Grow Your Own – where industry experts will share their tips for turning gardens, back yards, and patio spaces into urban vegetable plots. BBC Masterchef judge John Torode will be revealing his own recipes for British beef on the 4th, as well as signing copies of his new book 'John Torode's Beef and other Bovine Matters'. Meanwhile some of Manchester's top restaurants will be making their skills and services available for one night only on the 6th, where they will be hosting the charity chef auction. Chefs putting themselves up fro grabs include Robert Owen Brown (The Angel), David Gale (Podium), and Michael Riemenschneider (Juniper). Proceeds will be going to the MFDF Community Foundation. Other highlights of the event include an evening with Michel Roux on the 8th, a festival real ale beer and greater Manchester real ale festival, running on the 10th and 11th, and the world record attempt by Jamie Stephenson. The festival will finish up on the 13th with the Citylife.co.uk Manchester Food and Drink Festival Gala Dinner and Awards, when the region's top chefs will find out which of them has picked up this year's coveted prizes including the 2008 Restaurant of the Year.
