The research found that independent school students rate the availability of healthy food options as significantly more important to them than their state school counterparts.

However, in a letter written to CSC, Steve Quinn, owner and managing director of Cucina Restaurants, stressed that general conclusions threaten to lose sight of “genuine pockets of excellence” in the state sector.
In his letter, Quinn celebrated the successes of state school catering and noted the importance of developing on the progress that has been made.
“I think it’s important to remember that nationally, healthy eating in state schools is an uneven picture in terms of quality, interest and take-up.”
