Contract caterer Sodexo wins menu accolade

Contract caterer Sodexo has received a menu development award for its Origo premium food service concept designed for workplace catering.
A Sodexo spokesman said Origo had been developed and implemented to keep in step with consumers heightened values and growing concerns with the environment, food quality and supply chain. A team of mystery diners and judges visited sites to see menus in action before deciding the overall winner. The judges said they were particularly impressed with the positioning and delivery of the core principles of the offer of seasonality, provenance and sustainability which were very prominent. Sodexo who has been working closely with Red Tractor and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) on sourcing policy. David Clarke, chief executive officer, Assured Food Standards, said: "We would like to congratulate Sodexo on this award. Since we first began to work with Sodexo, they have continued to be the industry benchmark for their commitment to UK farming. "The extent to which Sodexo had made its commitment is remarkable and it has set the standard in terms of sheer scale, it was not only the first company in its sector to secure Red Tractor accreditation across multiple sites in its education, healthcare and defence sectors for fresh produce, milk and cream, it also extended that accreditation last year to include all sectors and all fresh meat both in England and Wales."
