Contract caterer Elior raises £30,000 for Help for Heroes

3rd Feb 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
Contract caterer Elior UK has donated over £30,000 to Help for Heroes, the charity formed to help those who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts.
Staff gathered at the Bovington Camp in Dorset, one of Elior's Ministry of Defence sites, on Tuesday 25 January to present a cheque for £30,037 to the charity. Elior staff and customers took part in fun days, car washing, raffles and sponsored bike rides to raise the funds. Speaking at the event, John McEwen said: "Employees throughout Elior Integrated Services have worked tirelessly to organise many fundraising events right through the year and should be praised for collecting over £30,000 and for choosing an extremely commendable charity to support. "This is a significant amount of money that I'm sure will go a long way in assisting Help For Heroes, a charity that spends every penny possible on making grants that aim to provide practical, direct support for our wounded. "All the staff who took part, like those in Bovington Camp and in particular the employees and customers of Clouds Hill Public House who raised over £7,000, should be very proud of their achievement." Catherine Roe added: "I feel honoured to have had an opportunity to do something to help not only those courageous men and women of our armed forces but also their families. The generosity and support from our employees and customers has been extraordinary. I wish to thank those individuals who have given both time and money during these difficult economic times in support of such a worthy cause."
