Abstract
Elsabé Snyman, former purchasing co-ordinator with CH&Co, has been promoted to procurement manager for the group.
She will continue to work closely with Terry Cook of the Cook Consultancy, sharing joint responsibility for the catering group's multi-million pound supplier portfolio.
Her new role will involve a more strategic focus on tighter procurement policies and procedures, as well as concentrating on risk assessment and supply chain management across CH&Co's core range of suppliers. The group is also in the process of recruiting a procurement assistant to support the work.
Caroline Fry, managing director of CH&Co said: "We feel that it is essential to invest in this part of the business due to increasing demands on our purchasing team by staff, clients and customer expectations. "Supplier management is critical, as is our on-going commitment to maintaining honest and open procedures. To enable Elsabé and Terry to focus on this and on price negotiations, we are also recruiting an assistant to take on some of the administrative duties.
"As a fine food company, our people and our product are essential to our success and it is therefore vital to invest in the purchasing element to ensure that we continue to get the very best in terms of quality and value for money."
Commenting on her promotion, Snyman said: "This is an extremely challenging and fast-moving sector and my role touches every aspect of the CH&Co business, from liaising with clients to involvement in tender processes and supplier category management. "It's all about relationships with people and I really enjoy that side of it – and the cut and thrust of it all is an extra bonus! I am looking forward to the more strategic element, broadening the procurement function of CH&Co."
