Abstract
A sustainable seafood competition has been organised by the Master Chefs of Great Britain in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society to find Britain’s best haddock dish.

The Master Chef of Great Britain (formerly The Institute of Master Chefs) was formed in 1980 to provide a forum for the exchange of culinary ideas and to further the profession through training and guidance to young chefs.

The judges for the competition include Master Chefs chairman George McIvor and sustainable seafood advocate Jack Clarke. The competition aims to encourage more chefs to cook and eat fish.

Entries for the competition open on 1 March and the shortlisted finalists will be announced on 9 April. The main ingredient of each dish must be sustainably caught North Sea haddock.

McIvor said: “Haddock is an extremely popular fish in the UK and it will be interesting to see just how creative the chefs can be in this unique competition.

“With prizes worth over £500 up for grabs, the best young seafood chefs in the UK will surely be keen to compete. However, it is the pride of winning that surely matters most with the title of best haddock young chef in the country.
