Abstract
Food and support services firm, Compass Group UK & Ireland, is celebrating after six of its divisions were recognised at this year’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards.

Praised for their approach to the management of occupational health and safety, each of the six divisions – healthcare, ESS defence and government, Chartwells, Levy restaurants UK, VSG and Instore – were rewarded during the charity’s annual awards, now in its 61st year.

Compass’s healthcare sector and ESS defence and government services both achieved a ‘Commended’ in the Industry Sector awards for their outstanding health and safety performance within the hotel and catering industry; whilst Chartwells, Levy restaurants UK, VSG and Instore all received gold awards throughout the ceremony.

Andy May, health and safety executive director at Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: “We are honoured that six of our divisions have been recognised at the annual RoSPA awards.

“Compass is a people powered business and this award highlights the dedication of our teams as well as our approach to workforce safety in ensuring we always maintain a safe environment for all of our colleagues, clients and customers.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, added: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.

“This is a special year in the history of RoSPA, and we congratulate all of our winners in this, our centenary year.”

This year’s RoSPA Awards took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on Thursday, July 13.
