Abstract
In support of National Apprenticeship Week (11 to 15 March), Compass Group UK & Ireland has organised an action packed week of activity in line with its theme, ‘Apprenticeships Deliver’, to showcase the achievements and benefits of apprenticeships.

Yesterday four apprentices from across the business descended on the Compass Innovation Centre in Chertsey for the annual apprentice cook off, and tomorrow will see Compass apprentices showcasing their talents at ‘Made by Apprentices’; an event hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister to thank people and organisations that have supported and contributed to making apprenticeships successful over the past year.

These apprentices will make a selection of canapés to be served during the evening, showcasing the amazing new culinary talent within Compass.

Meanwhile on 14 March, 45 delegates from Compass’ internal management development programme, Evolve, will attend a formal graduation to receive certificates from Ian Sarson, managing director of Compass Group UK & Ireland.

Additionally, Compass will be attending ‘Berkshire Apprenticeship Adventures’, at Legoland Windsor on Thursday 14 March, to showcase apprenticeships to young people. The event, organised by the National Apprenticeship Service, is the first ever pan-Berkshire event. It will be attended by pupils from 16 schools, across six unitary authorities and is also open to all 16–24 year olds from the area including those that are currently not in education, employment or training.

Sarson said: “Great people are at the very core of our business and are fundamental to its success. As someone who started their career within foodservice through an industry qualification and a passion for great food, I strongly believe we have a responsibility to equip people with the right skills and opportunities, enabling them to develop their careers in this brilliant and exciting industry.

"Compass is committed to providing apprenticeships and training to grow talent at every level throughout the business, and I’m delighted to celebrate the achievements of our people this National Apprenticeship Week.”
