Blakemore says: “It’s an honour to be asked to give the 2019 lecture. It’s a unique occasion that brings together people from across the food chain and encourages the exchange of insight and ideas.
“I plan to share our global insights about the way technology and consumer trends are having a far-reaching influence on the food industry.”
City Food Lecture organising chairman, John Giles says: “I’m sure Dominic’s experience, combined with the global reach of Compass will provide the audience with unique insights into the trends that will shape the food industry in the years ahead.”
The lecture will be followed by a panel debate chaired by Chris White managing director of Fruitnet Media and featuring Minette Batters, president of the National Farmers Union, Prof Corinna Hawkes director, Centre for Food Policy School of Arts and Social Sciences City University and Tamira Treffers-Herrera, regional head Europe Rabobank.
Blakemore took over as group chief executive at the beginning of 2018 and has been a board director of Compass Group since 2012. Previously he held senior roles with Iglo Foods and Cadbury.
