Abstract
Dominic Blakemore, chief executive of hospitality company Compass Group, was today revealed as the keynote speaker for the 2019 City Food Lecture (26 February).

Having taken over as chief executive earlier this year, Blakemore has been a Compass board director since 2012 and previously held senior roles at both Cadbury and Iglo Foods.

He will follow in the footsteps of former keynote speakers, including: Unilever chief executive Paul Polman; Christophe Jouan, chief executive of The Future Foundation and former Cadbury Schweppes chairman, John Sunderland.

Blakemore said: “It’s an honour to be asked to give the 2019 City Food Lecture. It’s a unique occasion that brings together people from across the food chain and encourages the exchange of insight and ideas.

“I plan to share (Compass’) global insights about the way technology and consumer trends are having a far-reaching influence on the food industry.”

Event organising chairman, John Giles, added: “I’m sure Dominic’s experience, combined with the global reach of Compass, will provide the audience with unique insights into the trends that will shape the food industry in the years ahead. ”

Organised by seven City of London agriculture and food companies, the 2019 event will take place 26 February at London’s Guildhall.

As well as the lecture, there will be a panel debate chaired by Chris White (managing director of Fruitnet Media) as well as a networking dinner.
