Abstract
Chefs working in Worcestershire's hospitals, schools, colleges, care homes and council buildings are being urged to enter a new community chef award.
Chefs can be nominated via www.worcesterfeast.com from which a shortlist of three will be chosen. The finalists will then be invited to a cook off to be judged by a panel of professionals including catering specialists. The ultimate winner will then have their own slot at the Worcester Feast Cookery Theatre to demonstrate their skills. The competition will also help to raise money for Acorns Children's Hospice in Worcester whose chef, Martyn Barber, will be one of the judges. Martyn Barber, said: "Many of the children we cook for have to take their food as a puree. We have to find ways to make it appealing whilst also taking dietary and multi-faith needs into account too. I think the Community Chef Award is a great way to recognise people for whom cooking is the be-all and end-all - not a platform to become a superstar."
