Brioche Pasquier surveyed 1,938 consumers in August 2020 to discover the nation’s favourite dessert. Cakes were top of the list for 16-34-year-olds but 35-years-old and above prefer a cheesecake for dessert.
Following a main course is still the optimal time to eat a dessert. The survey also found that Afternoon Tea is still a favourite as 48% of Brits enjoy the treat.
Matt Grenter, foodservice sales manager at Brioche Pasquier, said: “Our research confirms that people tend to go for desserts over the weekend and they generally follow a main course.
“However, what we’ve also seen is that there is an opportunity for a weekday treat with Café Gourmand increasing in popularity on Mondays and Wednesdays and the mid-week or hump day Afternoon Tea is also popular.
“This is the perfect opportunity for cafés, pubs, bars and restaurants to introduce these two options into their planning, helping to increase sales across the week.”
