Abstract
Veg Power, the not-for-profit increasing the UK’s vegetable consumption, has announced that baby and child nutritionist Charlotte Stirling-Reed (RNutr) has joined its alliance.

Stirling-Reed will become a #SeasonalVeg ambassador, joining a growing alliance of chefs and nutritionists promoting the benefits of eating seasonal UK vegetables. She will provide advice and guidance to help inform other family-focused campaigns.

Following a first-class honours degree in Nutrition and Human Biology and a postgraduate degree in Nutrition and Public Health, Stirling-Reed’s career began in the NHS where she specialised in maternal, baby and child nutrition.

The #SeasonalVeg campaign aims to boost vegetable variety and volume by encouraging consumers to 'eat with the seasons’. This initiative not only improves dietary health but also strengthens British farming, bolsters food security and supports planetary health.

Each month, #SeasonalVeg spotlights a different vegetable, like aubergines in May, tomatoes in June and butternut squash in September. To boost understanding and interest in 'eating with the seasons,' Veg Power's 'Simply Veg' website will feature fresh content and preparation tips to showcase each vegetable at its best.

Stirling-Reed said, “I’m honoured to be a part of Veg Power. I absolutely agree with everything they stand for and can’t wait to help more families have better knowledge and hopefully better access to good foods.”

She joins a growing team of Seasonal Veg ambassadors including Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Tom Aikens and Chantelle Nicholson. Veg Power is keen for anyone with an interest in seasonal veg to show their support, join the campaign and post relevant social content with the #SeasonalVeg hashtag.

Dan Parker, chief executive at Veg Power, added: “Her wealth of nutrition experience and expertise together, with a clear passion to improve children’s dietary health will be of great benefit not only to our campaigns in general but to all the parents within the Veg Power community. She’ll be supporting us to break down barriers and make healthy eating simple, accessible, and delicious for all.”
