The accreditation also reflects the company’s effort at encouraging others to become ‘Disability Confident,’ too.
Run by government, the ‘Disability Confident’ scheme aims to help UK businesses employ and retain people with disabilities and other health conditions; help recognise their skills; and give them a chance to achieve their aspirations.
The meticulous assessment process saw CH&CO judged on its policies, procedures and culture, including
Providing a fully inclusive and accessible recruitment process
Ensuring employees have appropriate disability equality awareness
Providing a supportive environment that is inclusive and accessible for employees, clients and customers
Promoting a Disability Confident culture
Encouraging suppliers and partners to be Disability Confident
CH&CO group director of human resources, Alison Gilbert, said: “Inclusivity and accessibility have always underpinned (CH&CO’s) recruitment and employment policies, and processes and are an important part of our culture.
“It’s fantastic that this has been formally recognised with the Disability Confident Leader status.
“We employ over 6,200 people and our team is incredibly diverse. Everyone makes a valuable contribution to the business based on their individual skills.
“We will continue to nurture and develop our people and work with our partners, including Springboard and Foxes Academy, to recruit from the diverse and exciting talent pool and to promote dynamic careers in hospitality to all.”
