Abstract
Charvet France has introduced a two-shift manufacturing system to allow staff to stick to hygiene and distancing requirements while clearing a backlog of orders as the factory re-opens.

"The company has come out of lockdown with a measured, staged approach and weare gradually getting back to a targeted 100% productivity over the next few weeks," says UK MD Wayne Cuomo.

"We are grateful to the small team of Charvet volunteers, who effectively redesigned the manufacturing process, so they can work to the French government guidelines and the new 'distanced' norm, albeit with face masks and gloves.

"This meant the workforce needed to split into two shifts due to restrictions on how many hours they are allowed to leave home.

"Throughout the lockdown, new orders have continued to be discussed and received in the UK and from overseas.

"Delivery times may be a little extended, but the factory can now provide timescales to suit customers worldwide.

"In the UK, the lockdown has been an opportunity for Charvet's team of engineers to fix maintenance niggles, carry out planned maintenance and upgrade for customers who can provide a safe site for them to work in.

"Charvet's UK sales office continues to remain open for distributor and customer enquiries as usual."
