Charlton House wins £1m catering contract with Thames Water

21st Nov 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
Independent staff caterers Charlton House has secured a catering contract with Thames Water to provide services to 2,100 people across five sites: three in Reading, one in Marlow and one in Swindon.
Under a five-year deal worth £1 million in annual turnover, a team of 23 Charlton House staff took over from the incumbents, BaxterStorey, who had held the contract for the past seven years. The emphasis has now changed to fresh, locally sourced food with a modern twist. Charlton House is also currently managing a refurbishment project across some of the sites. Caroline Fry, managing director of Reading-based Charlton House, said: "This is a very prestigious gain and is particularly exciting for us as it is within our own home ground. We hope to make a big difference across all of the Thames Water sites with our healthy eating programme, Wellbeing Being Well. "It has been an amazing year for us. We are well on the way to meeting our budgeted annual turnover figure of £30 million (Year end 31st March 2012). Despite a challenging and highly competitive marketplace, our emphasis on healthy food is winning through. "We take our responsibility for feeding people at work extremely seriously and we will continue to invest in this area to ensure that our customers get the very best nutrition during their working day."
