The Charity China trek begins this week…

24th Mar 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
Our reporter Maria Bracken begins her “challenging adventure” tomorrow as she flies out to China along with 23 other colleagues within the hospitality industry to trek The Great Wall in aid of The Springboard Charity.
The trekkers will begin their challenge (on Sunday 27 March) at Badaling and will finish up five days later on the Mutianyu section of the wall. They will each walk approximately 12kms every day and will be returning to the UK on 3rd April. Aside from the trek, which is being sponsored by Sharwoods and supported by Hi-Tec, each participant also has the demanding challenge of raising £7,000 each for Springboard, which is a charity that helps unemployed and disadvantaged people to find careers in the hospitality industry. Maria will be "tweeting" during the trek with highlights of each day so those interested in following her can visit www.twitter.com/Marias_Trek. Maria commented on the challenge she faces: "I am very excited but at the same time extremely anxious, it's going to be tough. But I am always up for a challenge and am really looking forward to sharing some of the amazing experiences of China with the other fellow trekkers. "I am confident that it's going to be a successful, eventful trip which I'm sure I will never forget." For those who would still like to make a donation, please click the link below. It is going to a very good cause! Maria's fundraising page
