The charity provides online and onsite training to help schools serve up ‘generation-powering, mind-opening and society-changing food that fuels the future’ all within school budgets.
A spokesperson for Chefs in Schools, said: “This incredible milestone has been reached by nearly doubling in one year the previous five all added together. At this pace of growth, nearly every single school child in England could be reached by a Chefs in Schools programme by 2030.
“All of this is only possible, because of people like you, staff members, teachers, chefs, funders and advocates, who care deeply about our mission and are determined to tackle a deep-rooted issue. Tackling the way that children everywhere access and understand food will fundamentally change their lives and a broken system for the better.
“Passing on a love and passion for delicious nutritious food, and the skills to make and eat it, will turn that system on its head. In a year in which the UK has been hit with many political and economic challenges, our charity has weathered the storms and managed to double the number of children we’ve reached.”
