Abstract
For the third year running the annual Channel Islands Chef of the Year competition will run in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs.
This prestigious event will once again challenge chefs on the archipelago where English culture meets French. The contest is divided into two classes and open to both junior and senior entries. The junior competition is for any student over 16 studying full-time or training as an apprentice and registered for a City & Guilds or equivalent certificated course. The senior competition is for chefs who have completed their training, are over 18 and in full-time employment. Last year Rene Bisson from The Pavilion Restaurant in Guernsey won the senior trophy while Joshua Phillips from Alderney OGH became the junior champion. "Anyone wanting to compete will have to produce a three-course menu for two people that uses not only Channel Island products, but products from our sponsors Nestlé Professional and McCormick's Schwartz," said Craft Guild vice president Stephen Scuffell. The final of the 2011 competition will be held at the Guernsey College of Further Education on Thursday, April 7. • To take part in the competition, download an application form here or call 0208 948 3870 for more information. All entries must be completed by March 21 2011.
