Employment needs for the sector and CESA’s request that self-certification should remain in place for UK companies to CE mark equipment, were amongst the topics discussed at the meeting at 9 Downing Street.
Glenn Roberts, chair of CESA, said: “Lord Bridges understands that it’s critical that we get clarity on exactly what catering equipment companies will need to do to sell into Europe, post-Brexit. Just as important is the question of how we can influence EU policy if we don’t have a seat at the table.”
Lord Trefgarne, patron of CESA, Keith Warren, director of CESA and Phil William and Richard Cromwell, both on the CESA council, were also present at the meeting.
The meeting comes after the government’s publication of the ‘building our industrial strategy’ green paper in January 2017, which aims to build industrial strategy that addresses long-term challenges to the UK economy.
CESA represents over 180 companies who supply, service and maintain catering equipment.
