CEDA catering equipment distributors surprise ITV
Abstract
A host of catering equipment distributors association (CEDA) member and partner companies came together to help transform a Brixton social club kitchen on ITV’s Surprise Surprise.

The members, lead by Inox Equip’s Mark Kendall, provided equipment, services and support to refurbish the run-down kitchen of Brixton Sports and Social Club, which provides free meals to those in need in the local community.

Kendall, project director of Inox Equip, said: “On surveying the site I knew this was a heck of a task to get a very dilapidated kitchen fit-for-purpose, and fit to be shown on national televison, in under a week.

“We had to strip out everything and start with new Whiterocked walls, install new electrics and plumbing, ventilation, a new ceiling, new doors and install and commission a complete set of catering equipment.”

Amongst the companies who provided equipment, services and support were Blue Seal, Valera, Manitowoc, Calder Catering, Inox, Liebherr and Sigma Catering. CEDA members provided everything from dishwashers and ovens to ventilation and Whiterock.

Adam Mason, CEDA’s director general, said: “When you see the list of those involved from the company providing the taps to the one who gave wall cupboards, and from the refrigeration to microwave, you understand the spirit of co-operation at the hear of the project.”

CEDA represents almost 100 of the leading catering equipment distributors in the UK. The association aims to pool knowledge and resources, drive forward professional standards through education and training, and help its members to deliver good customer service to its clients.
