Abstract
National workplace catering specialist, Catermasters, has been awarded a five-year extension to its contract to supply an all-encompassing catering service to staff at Oxfam's headquarters in Oxford.
"This is a massive contract extension in today's economic climate and we're all delighted that Oxfam clearly has so much faith in us and the service we provide," said Catermasters joint managing director, Richard Moody. "When this latest contract runs its course in 2015, we will have been on site at Oxfam for 10 years and that's something we can be extremely proud of." Catermasters employs one chef manager and six generals assistants at the Oxfam site in Oxford and they cater for 700 staff, providing a first-class breakfast, lunch and afternoon catering service that focuses heavily on FairTrade and sustainable practice. The contract is entirely commercial with nil subsidy. The majority of the Catermasters team that work at Oxfam have been actively involved in servicing the site since the company beat 26 other contractors to the original contract in 2005 and operations manager, Keith Dawe, believes continuity has been an important factor in Catermasters winning a five-year extension. He said: "A lot of our staff have been here since day one and the stability and continuity that brings has been very important. Oxford is a city where Catermasters looks after a number of contracts and that means we visit the Oxfam site on a regular basis and provide the right kind of support if it's needed. We're proud of the job we do at Oxfam and we're hoping to be here beyond 10 years." Aileen Peverell, Oxfam's facilities manager, was part of the team that decided to award Catermasters with its contract extension. She said: "Our staff love the consistently high quality of freshly prepared food, with plenty of variety to meet the tastes of the diverse workforce."
