The Leamington-based company’s latest accolade comes hot on the heels of its recent success in The Sunday Times Top 100 ‘Best Companies to Work For’ judging. In that competition, Catermasters sealed 59th place on the top-100 list of best medium-sized businesses in the UK.
The ‘Best Employer’ category at the Best Business Awards was searching for an employer that has created an outstanding workplace based on a set of values that has led to a committed, effective and motivated workforce.
Catermasters, a national business that employs 583 people across 120 workplace catering sites in the UK, was declared the winner of the hard-fought category last week.
Andrew Areoff, Chairman of the Judges, said: “The staff at Catermasters clearly love their job because absenteeism is extremely low and they talk about the company as being more like a family than a business.
“Catermasters gives the impression that staff are committed, effective and motivated mainly because they feel that the company really does put them first. The real secret of its success is communication. It has a full schedule of employee engagement programmes and the two founders are often seen having a casual coffee with a member of staff."
Nigel Johnson, Catermasters Joint Managing Director, said: “We’re thrilled to pick up another top honour, this time for being judged as a ‘best employer’. Catering is a notoriously tough industry so we work very hard to make sure our staff are well looked after and feel that they are valued and have a chance to progress their careers. This award shows we’ve got our approach right.”
