Abstract
A new study has revealed that catering professionals’ ‘ideal’ job is a flexible, London-based role, which pays £25,500 per annum.

This is according to a new study from job site CV-Library, which surveyed 1,200 workers across to UK to better understand what people want in terms of pay, benefits and working patterns.

For catering professionals, this includes:

  • Salary: 47% think £25,500 p.a. is reasonable/ 36% would be happy with £11,000 p.a.
  • Hours: 48% prefer flexi-time and would choose their eight hours between 6am and 6pm. 31% want to work the traditional 9-5
  • Holiday: 27% would like 30 days holiday; 24% 35 days
  • Company size: 62% prefer to work in a small business with up to 50 employees; 7% want to work for a large corporate company
  • Dress code: 67% want a smart/casual dress code

When asked their top three workplace ‘perks,’ most voted for paid sick leave (55%), followed by staff discount (48%) and health insurance (48%).

CV-Library founder and chief executive, Lee Biggins, said: “Everyone wants to get something different out of the workplace – whether it’s a good pay packet or the ability to work more flexible hours.

“If you’re searching for a job right now, it’s always best to have a clear idea of what you want from your role, so you’re able to find a position that’s right for you.

“But while choosing a company that fits the bill and facilitates your needs is extremely important; don’t rule out any opportunities just because they don’t tick every single box.”
