Abstract
Catering expert Cucina, which serves fresh food to more than 25,000 pupils at 30 contracts, is delivering birthday parties for kids up and down the country including Southfield School in Kettering, Flixton High School in Manchester and St. Alban's Girls' School in Hertfordshire.
The lunch-time birthday parties have so far proved extremely popular with the students; there is a special area for party members, who can sign a birthday card which has been signed by all of Cucina's team in the restaurant.
Ian Morgan, Cucina executive head chef, said: "When the birthday cake is brought out after the main course the whole restaurant sees it, which can be 300 pupils at once, which is fantastic. Our birthday parties make birthdays special over lunch-time, which is often forgotten about during your birthday at school."
Lyn Lorentzen, school business and finance manager for Southfield School Specialist Sports College, added: "Cucina's birthday parties create a fun birthday atmosphere and uptake has been high. This is another example of Cucina's innovative approach to delivering school food."
