Catering Academy pledges support to One Water

3rd Mar 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
National independent contract catering company, Catering Academy, who secured 10th position in this year's Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list, are pledging their support to African water project, One Water.
By selling One Water across their entire contract base, Catering Academy's aim was to achieve the target value of one well within a year; having to sell over 140,000 bottles of water throughout their catering faculties to succeed. Achieving their aim, Team Academy have generated significant funding to produce and install one fresh water well with a second currently due to be completed later this year. The wells are constructed in the form of 'play-pumps' which are powered by children's roundabouts in the village schools, eradicating the tiresome journeys families have to make every day to secure water and adding a fun element for the children. As an additional channel of support, Catering Academy nominated the One Water foundation as their chosen charity, making further donations on behalf of their clients instead of Christmas gifts last year. Peros, the fair-trade supplier who provide One Water to Catering Academy's sites also supply the company with fairly traded tea and coffee via a brand called café direct. Adrian O'Hare from Peros commented: "It was Catering Academy's vision and devotion to the cause which enabled the fund for the water well and play pump to be achieved in less than 12 months. "Catering Academy has changed the lives of everyone living in Ha-Keketsi by providing them with fresh, clean, safe reliable drinking water all year round. By strategically placing the water well in the village Catering Academy is not only providing the village with a clean water supply but they are also enabling the children to attend school to get an education."
