Caterers Couture wins £2.5m contract at People's History Museum

10th Feb 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Concession caterers Couture have won the contract to run the in-house bar and restaurant at the redeveloped People's History Museum in Manchester.
Couture, who pride themselves on championing the best of British produce, will run the catering facilities at the Left Bank café bar at the newly refurbished and extended museum when it opens on February 13. In addition to offering on-the-go sandwiches, wraps and salads, Couture has designed a menu in keeping with the museum's remit of documenting the history of the labour movement. Traditional fare such as bacon fidget pie and pan haggerty will be on offer. The venue will operate as a café by day and bar by night. Janneke Geene, development manager at the People's History Museum said: "The choice of Couture as the catering contractor for The Left Bank cafe bar was unanimous. Their approach was original yet practical. They had given a lot of thought to the subject matter of the museum and how the cafe could add value, yet were applying good commercial principles to the whole project at the same time. "With income generation becoming an ever more important source of funds to museums and galleries around the country, we are confident we have found an excellent business partner in Couture."
