Abstract
Compass Group has announced that it will continue to sponsor the International Club's Junior Tennis European Challenge for a further six years.
The relationship between Compass and the International Club began in 2005 and since then the UK's largest catering and support services company has sponsored the European Challenge tournaments which act as qualifying rounds for the world finals, giving youth tennis players the opportunity to compete on a global level.
The sponsorship funding goes towards international travel and accommodation for the players, without which many of the competitors would not be able to take part. In addition, through its operations in Europe, Compass provides hospitality in the host country for the players, tournament officials, coaches and supporters during the welcome ceremony and the closing gala dinner.
Julian Tatum, IC Council junior challenge coordinator, said: "The International Lawn Tennis Club is absolutely thrilled that Compass Group is continuing its invaluable support for the worldwide IC Junior Challenge for the next six years.
"Compass' sponsorship has enabled the IC to stage important international tournaments for 16 and under juniors from more than 21 countries around the world, on a continent by continent basis. This experience of international match-play is a vital part of these players' development and for some it is their first foreign tennis-playing experience."
Compass is responsible for catering at some of Great Britain's most prestigious sporting events and locations including The Championships Wimbledon, major racecourses and numerous national and international football, rugby and cricket stadia.
