Caterer Charlton House appoints nutritionist to support wellbeing initiative

19th Jul 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Independent staff catering company Charlton House has appointed Amanda Ursell, the nutritionist and journalist, as a consultant to support its drive to improve health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Following the re-launch of its website on healthy eating in the workplace – www.wellbeingbeingwell.co.uk - Charlton House is now working closely with Amanda Ursell to maximise its customers' health. The 'Wellbeing, being well' programme features a nutritional ingredient of the week on menus throughout the company's restaurants nationwide. In addition, the Michelin-starred chef, David Cavalier, the group's food director, has created a series of recipes incorporating the "ingredient of the week" for customers to make at home. Caroline Fry, managing director of Charlton House, has been the driver behind the initiative. She said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have Amanda Ursell on board. As a high profile nutritionist and trained dietitian, her input will take the work which we have done to date to a new level and keep the focus clearly on the health of our customers." Ursell said: "I see this as an amazing opportunity to reach people in the workplace directly. I truly believe that what you eat affects how you feel and perform throughout the day. Charlton House feeds approximately 40,000 people a day nationwide so this offers me an unprecedented opportunity to target key messages about how simple changes to the diet can have a profound effect on one's mood, work performance, health and wellbeing." "It's all about getting the most out of our lives. We spend so much time at work that it's important to understand which foods will help to make a difference, not just in terms of optimising performance and concentration in the workplace but also how good we feel and how well we sleep. "Having the right thing to eat at breakfast time, for example, can have a knock-on effect on the entire day. I am very impressed with Charlton House's food standards. Great food and great nutrition should go hand-in-hand and can and should be offered in the working environment." Ursell will also work closely with Lusso, CH&Co's fine dining and bespoke staff catering brand for clients in the City.
