Abstract
Care homes and healthcare operators across the UK are getting ready to host their own afternoon tea parties, as part of an attempt to break the Nutrition & Hydration Week’s record for the most virtual afternoon tea parties to take place in the UK.

The initiative, which is part of a tie-up between McVitie’s and Jacob’s maker Pladis is set to take place today (16 June).

Scott Snell, vice president sales UK & Ireland at Pladis, said: “We are aiming to create more than 200 afternoon tea parties, which will run simultaneously on 16 June – and there’s still time to help us smash that target.

“From simple afternoon tea and biscuits to a more elaborate affair, we are encouraging care homes and healthcare operators across the UK to get residents and patients involved. Participating operators will also be given a chance to win a hamper full of biscuit goodies, as part of our prize draw.”

Care providers can download the free McVitie’s Tasties Biggest Afternoon Tea Challenge activities pack, which contains puzzles, games and hydration information.

Andy Jones, chair of the PSC100 Group, added: “Nutrition & Hydration Week aims to create energy, focus and fun to highlight and educate people on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing in health and social care.

“The afternoon tea challenge is a great way to engage residents and patients – and to have a bit of fun. We’d love it if you could share photos of your tea parties on social media using the hashtag #NHW2021 and tweeting them to us @NHWeek.”

To enter, simply email mcvities@williammurray.co.uk with a photo of your afternoon tea and your details will be entered into our prize draw. Please send in your entry image by 22 June.
