Since joining Priesty Fields in 2021, Barry has taken the care home’s culinary offering to ‘new heights’, creating a tasty menu that showcases an array of top-quality ingredients whilst also improving residents’ wellbeing through a balanced and nutritious diet.
Commenting on his nomination, he said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been recognised amongst some of the most inspiring chefs in the sector. Priesty Fields is the perfect place for me to continue on my culinary journey and it’s provided an opportunity I’m deeply grateful for. Working with the talented individuals throughout the team at Priesty Fields is a privilege and the array of talent I’ve been recognised alongside is truly inspiring.
“As head chef, I will look to ensure the standard of our offering is impeccable each and every day, with our wonderful residents at the forefront of any decision we make. Our team has clear ambitions of placing Priesty Fields firmly on the map and we want to push ourselves to produce the best food we possibly can.”
Barry has demonstrated his commitment throughout the Congleton home, working around the clock to ensure all residents are happy and satisfied while continuously implementing a person-centred approach to nutrition.
Rishi Sodha, care director at Priesty Fields Care Home, added: “He runs the kitchen to an incredible standard and has set the bar for any aspiring chef throughout the sector. He is driven by his residents and dedicates a vast amount of time and energy into training new kitchen staff to maintain the standards he has worked so hard to achieve.”
Winners of the Great British Care Awards are selected regionally as well as nationally. The North West regional awards are due to take place on Saturday, November 12th at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester.
