Capital City College Group to host Healthy Plate, Healthy Planet event
Abstract
Capital City College Group in partnership with Culinary Medicine UK will host an ‘innovative’ event at Westminster Kingsway College on Wednesday 2nd October at 6pm that aims to help shape the future of our industry and build a more sustainable food system.

The ‘ground-breaking’ event will bring together stakeholders from key industries and academia to elevate the conversation around the food and hospitality industries, as well as public sector catering services for healthcare, education institutions, care homes, prisons and business catering.

Nutritional researchers from the Food and Mood Academy at Deakin University will share their latest research alongside food industry guests, who will present innovative ideas for healthy and sustainable food practices.

Areas of discussion include building a sustainable food system, revolutionising public health and driving healthier plates. Key features of the event:

  • Phil Shelley: Brings his extensive experience as the senior operational manager and national lead for net zero food at NHS England.
  • Introduction to Guardians of Grub: Learn about the Food Waste Ambassador Programme.
  • Panel discussion: Engage in a discussion on integrating nutrition and sustainability in various sectors, including healthcare, education, and the prison service.
  • Canapes to showcase themes developed with the healthy plate, healthy planet concept created by the hospitality students at Westminster Kingsway
  • Networking opportunities: Connect with decision-makers, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders to forge potential collaborations.
