Campaign launched to promote nutritional benefits of eggs

29th Mar 2012 - 00:00
Abstract
More than 350,000 booklets will be distributed as British Lion eggs joins forces with registered nutritionist Anita Bean to launch the 2012 ‘Eggs for Action’ campaign, to highlight the benefits of eggs for sports-lovers and health-conscious consumers.
The new 'Eggs for Action' booklet includes a range of quick and healthy egg recipes as well as a variety of useful facts and tips. Copies will be distributed free to readers of Top Santé, Zest, Women's Fitness and Health and Fitness, and at the Vitality Show. The recipes, which are designed for pre and post exercise activity, have been developed by sports nutrition specialist Anita Bean, and will feature on the website. Eggs represent one of the cheapest and highest quality proteins available for health conscious consumers. In addition, the case for the consumption of eggs, which are rich in protein, as part of a healthy active lifestyle, has been strengthened following the results of recent research that found protein-based sports drinks do not improve or give any benefit to athletic performance. Andrew Parker, chairman of the British Egg Industry Council, said that according to the NHS there is enough protein easily available from our diet in the UK, even for endurance athletes. "There has been a positive response to the 'Eggs for Action' campaign since it launched and I expect the next phase of the campaign to reinforce the message that eggs are a great food for health conscious consumers," he added.
