Call for chefs to enter Robbie Millar Scholarship

24th Jan 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
Young, talented chefs in Britain and Ireland are being invited to enter this year's inaugral Robbie Millar Scholarship.
The scholarship has been set up in memory of Robbie Millar, founder of the award-winning Shanks restaurant in Co Down, Northern Ireland. The Michelin-star and three-AA-rosette-holder died in a car crash in 2005 at the age of 38. Entrants must be aged 23 or under to enter the competition and the deadline is 25 February. Finalists will be required to cook a three-course meal at a cook-off on 8 April at the South West College of Further and Higher Education in Dungannon. The scholarship is being supported by leading chefs including Richard Corrigan, Paul Rankin, Nigel Haworth, Sean Hill, and Nick Nairn. Prizes include stages with some of the world's leading food and wine experts including Valrhona Chocolate in Tain L'Hermitiage, and a magnum of Billecart-Salmon, and a perpetual sculpture designed by Ross Wilson. To enter send a stamped, addressed envelope to "Robbie Millar Scholarship Competition", c/o Weber Shandwick, 425 Holywood Road, Belfast, BT4 2GU, or email Robbiemillarscholarship@ntlworld.com.
