Abstract
Apostrophe, the London-based café group, has just opened its twentieth site at 50 Gresham Street, London EC2. This is the second Apostrophe to open following joint venture investment by independent catering group CH&Co in January 2012.
The Gresham Street site, a former tailors, is the first Apostrophe to showcase new design formats that the operator plans later to roll out to other stores. A spokesman said: "The architects have been sympathetic to the original shop design, retaining the historical façade as well as the original ceiling and wall details. "These are complemented by bespoke copper light features and an innovative integrated display system designed exclusively for Apostrophe. "There is seating for up to 30 people arranged across a variety of formats, including large communal tables. As in other Apostrophes, guests can enjoy complimentary free WiFi, newspapers, water and jams. The Gresham Street site follows the opening of an Apostrophe kiosk at Broadgate Circle (next to Liverpool Street Station) in March. The kiosk serves the full Apostrophe food and drinks range for take away.
