Abstract
Distribution business Bunzl Catering Supplies, in partnership with Crown Oil, has switched its London Fleet of vehicles to HVO fuel as part of its Sustainable Future programme.

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel is a second-generation biofuel made from 100% renewable raw materials that offers net greenhouse gas reductions of up to 90% in comparison to fossil diesel fuel.

Bunzl Catering Supplies will be delivering foodservice solutions to its catering and hospitality customers in London with a reduced impact on the environment. The first trial delivery using HVO fuel was made in March to Sodexo, a facility management provider at the University of Greenwich.

Simon Knight, managing director at Sodexo, said: “We are delighted to partner with Bunzl Catering Supplies to launch HVO fuelled deliveries. Together we continue to make a positive impact on the world around us.”

The introduction of HVO fuel is part of the Sustainable Future programme, which is aiming to make improvements in areas such as recycling, fuel usage and sourcing sustainable products.

Justin Turquet, head of sustainability at Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division, added: “As part of our commitment to building a sustainable future we are constantly looking to provide our customers with sustainable solutions to foodservice delivered through an efficient and environmentally responsible distribution network. Our move to HVO fuel is another important step on this journey.”
