Abstract
As part of its growth strategy to increase its presence in the north of England, independent school caterer The Brookwood Partnership has acquired the education catering business of Graysons Restaurants Ltd, for an undisclosed sum.

The move sees Brookwood become a national caterer operating both in the south and the north of England. Graysons Education will continue to trade under its existing name under the new ownership of The Brookwood Partnership.

Sue Parfett, managing partner for Brookwood, said: “This represents a wonderful acquisition and an opportunity for both businesses to grow together.

“Graysons Education is a successful national business that has grown each year since formation. We are delighted to have them on board.

“The Brookwood Partnership is the largest privately-owned catering provider to independent schools within the UK, and will utilise its experience and knowledge to build on the current Graysons Education business.”

The combined revenues are expected to exceed £40m, with a workforce of approximately 1,320 employees.

Graysons, which was formed in 2008, has developed its contracts through business and industry, event catering, as well as education. Graysons’ management recently took the decision to concentrate their focus on the other areas and so sought a suitable business to look after their valued education clients.

Mike Bond, director of Graysons Education, said: “Brookwood’s vision and values, and particularly their focus on food, fits very closely with that of Graysons Education so the integration will be very smooth and uncomplicated.”

The Brookwood Partnership was established in 1996 by Kate Martin, Sue Parfett and Graham Sibthorp and currently serves 45,500 fresh meals each school day.

In 2012 it was listed 31st in The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For.
