Taking place in September, the awards set out to find Britain’s best poultry products and each of the nine product-based categories includes entries from small, independent producers and huge conglomerates alike.
The top 60 shortlisted products will be assessed by an independent panel of judges, including Lucy Jessop – Seven publishers, Sheila Eggleston - food & drink editor, Cost Sector Catering, Lee Maycock – Craft Guild of Chefs and Jake Davies – Poultry World. Rated against a set criteria of taste, appearance, quality, packaging and best use of protein for the target market, judges will then decide on the top three products from each of the nine categories.
With all winners taking home a dedicated logo to use on their advertising and point of sale campaigns and the much-coveted ‘Poultry Retailer of the Year’ winner carrying the endorsement on its range of everyday fresh poultry cuts for 12 months, chief executive of the British Poultry Council, Richard Griffiths says: "These awards provide a unique platform for small and large poultry producers to gain recognition for all their hard work.
‘We fully expect this to be the biggest and best event in the poultry industry calendar."
