Abstract
According to new research commissioned by Jus-Rol Professional, Britain is a nation of pie lovers, as 75% of people enjoy a pie at least once a month.

Ahead of British Pie week (beginning March 2nd), organisers Jus-Rol surveyed 300 consumers and found that a staggering 79% of respondents are willing to pay more for homemade pie, suggesting the inclusion of pie on more menus will result in tastier profits.

Pies are most popular in Northern Ireland (33%) and in the Midlands & Wales (20%). Steak & kidney pie is the nation’s favourite scooping 30% of the vote followed by steak & ale (26%) and chicken & mushroom (25%).

John McKears, senior sector controller, General Mills UK Ltd, said: “Our survey underpins something we at Jus-Rol Professional have been passionate about and celebrating through British Pie Week for eight years now – the pie is one of Britain’s greatest creations and should take pride of place on menus.

“There’s huge demand for authentic, homemade pies and with a third of people surveyed aware of British Pie Week, the annual pie celebration gives operators a profitable platform to make the most of.”

Jus-Rol has been a pastry partner for chefs for over 60 years.
