Abstract
The British Library is supporting The Vegan Society’s ‘Plate Up for the Planet’ campaign tomorrow (30 August), serving an exclusively vegan menu with the help of its caterer Graysons.

Encouraging Brits to take up to the seven-day challenge, The British Library will offer staff and visitors an all-vegan food and drinks menu, including dishes such as mock chicken katsu curry, Caribbean jerk tofu and hot drinks with soya milk.

Chantelle Nicholson, chef and author of vegan recipe book ‘Planted’, will also be on-hand to give a free vegan cookery demonstration, while the Vegan Society sets up camp with a stall by the café.

Head of campaigns, policy and research at The Vegan Society, Louise Davies, commented: “We are very excited to have such a respected institution as the British Library promoting the environmental benefits of the plant-based diet with a vegan offering at its café.

“With the weight of evidence showing that going vegan is the most significant thing an individual can do to reduce impact on the planet, it's time people and companies alike took action on this issue.

“We need to be far bolder with our food choices if we are to protect our precious planet, and our ‘Plate Up for the Planet’ campaign encourages people to do just that.”

Barry Nichols, executive chef at Graysons, added: “Chantelle has been commissioned to consult and develop a plant-based range of products for Graysons to launch in September, and we are very excited about her cookery demonstration”.
