Brakes named MSC Fish Supplier of the Year for second year running
Abstract
Brakes, the foodservice supplier, has been named the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Fish Supplier of the Year in the UK for the second year running in recognition of the supplier’s commitment to sourcing MSC certified products and promoting sustainable choices.

The win was announced to coincide with World Oceans Day (8th) and follows Brakes commitment to the Sustainable Fish Cities pledge, which ensures that all its general sale, own brand fish and seafood products are from sustainable sources.

Adam Swan, category director at Brakes, said: “It is a fantastic honour to win this award for the second time.

“We introduced the first MSC product to the foodservice industry more than ten years ago and have recently signed the Sustainable Fish Cities pledge.

“I think that this demonstrates that we are happy to set the standard for the industry.

“We are absolutely committed to delivering certified products to our customers, stocking around 120 MSC products, with new lines being added regularly.

“We work closely with customers and our supply chain to ensure they can make sustainable choices, wherever possible.”

George Clark, UK commercial manager at the MSC, said: “I’m delighted to name Brakes the UK’s MSC Fish Supplier of the Year 2015.

“Brakes’ commitment to sustainable fish has made it easy for schools, universities, contract caterers and independent business owners to serve seafood which has been responsibly sourced.

“I’m looking forward to seeing new MSC products being made available via Brakes over the next year.”
