Brakes Group launches Substop concept at LACA

The concept, which is currently being trialled in secondary schools throughout the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, allows school caterers to supply a high street style, deli sandwich outlet for their customers without making changes to their current school canteen set up. Research carried out by Brakes found that school children wanted their school meal offering to be similar to those available on the high street. To make this happen, Brakes supplies school caterers and councils with Substop merchandising packs to transform canteens into a Substop store with a fresh logo and image. Dishes available include a range of chilled fillings and a deli sub roll, which is fully baked and pre sliced. The core daily fillings include chicken bacon and sweetcorn mayonnaise, traditional ham salad, and cheese and onion. Daily specials with fillings include coronation chicken, spicy meatballs, chicken tikka and egg and bacon. The LACA event is taking place between 6 – 8 July 2011 at Hilton, Birmingham Metropole.
