The brand, created by three Amsterdam-based friends, aims to fight against single-use plastic by stocking Bottle Up in popular tourist destinations in Europe, starting with London this summer.
In the UK alone it has been reported that over 7.7 billion single-use plastic water bottles are consumed every year. The Dutch based entrepreneurs want to encourage tourists to buy inexpensive reusable bottles that are pre-filled with water.
The ‘London’ bottle is made in England and filled with English spring water from Staffordshire. 5p from every bottle sold will be donated to Charity: Water to ensure everyone can enjoy clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.
Andrew Eversden, one of the Bottle Up founders, said: “Most tourists will buy (or get given) an average of 2.5 water bottles per day when traveling abroad, which soon mounts to hundreds of millions of bottles per year in popular holiday destinations alone.
“These bottles are used just once and often end up in landfill, rivers and oceans, causing great danger to the environment and wildlife.”
The London bottles will be available in a blue and red, as well as a general water bottle will be available in beau blue. Wholesale price starts from £1 with a RRP starting from £2.49.
