Bisto Care Chef of the Year reveals five finalists
Abstract
The second Bisto Care Caterer of the Year competition, in partnership with Country Range, has announced the final five candidates who will compete for the £1,000 prize fund for their care home.

Following the ‘success’ of last year, Premier Foods has once again paired its gravy brand, Bisto, with the independent foodservice brand, Country Range.

The final five candidates are Kevin Price of Oulton Abbey Care Home in Staffordshire, Emilia Horodinc Chirila of Coopers Croft Care Home in Potters Bar, Barry Dart of Park Lane Nursing Home in Devon, Simon Lewis of Gracewell in High Wycombe and Adriano Carvalho of Gracewell in Newbury.

The Bisto Care Caterer of the Year final will take place on 12 September 2019 at premier Foods’ head office. The final five chefs will have to prepare and cook three portions of their main course and dessert within 90 minutes.

Each caterer must use a Bisto product in their main meal and a Country Range product in their dessert dish using a budget of £2.25. The judges include Louise Wagstaffe the culinary advisor at Premier Foods and Emma Holden the group marketing manager for the Country Range Group.

Sarah Robb, channel marketing manager at Premier Foods, said: “Recognising the hard work and showcasing the incredible standard of culinary work in care homes across the country is so important. We saw some incredible dishes last year and I’ve no doubt having seen the shortlisted entries, that this year will be no different.

“Our five finalists really do the care industry proud and I wish them all the best of luck in the final. Finally, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to enter, it was a tough decision and we were blown away with the thought and innovation that went into each entry.”

The five finalists are competing for a £1,000 prize fund for their care home and a £250 John Lewis voucher for themselves.
