Abstract
Bidvest Foodservice has officially opened its new Business Support Centre and depot on the Slough Trading Estate.

To mark the occasion, and ‘symbolise the business driving into a new chapter’, employees joined forces to pull one of the company’s 18-tonne lorries across the entrance of the building.

John Woolford, general manager at Slough depot, said: “As the UK’s leading foodservice provider, our mission is to deliver service excellence, make life easier and help our customers grow.

“Our new site in Slough is absolutely fundamental to this. Not only does it provide a fresh, new working environment with ground-breaking industry technology where our employees can thrive and grow, but it will benefit customers too. Its location on the M4 corridor extends our reach in the southern region by putting us at the heart of the area we supply and marks our commitment to cutting food miles too.”

Based in a 117,000 sq. ft purpose-built facility, the new centre will increase capacity for growth in the Southern region, create additional opportunities for employment in the local area – for both new and existing employees – and improve service.

The facility combines the company’s Business Support Centre, housing central functions such as buying, marketing and the supply chain team, and the depot itself.
