Abstract
Bidfood’s group sales and marketing director, Andy Kemp, has received an honorary doctorate for his services to the hospitality industry.

Praised by the University of West London (UWL) as a driving force in raising awareness of some of the biggest issues facing the industry, Kemp was awarded the doctorate at Wembley Stadium yesterday, 25 July.

As well as his dedication to protecting universal free school meals and highlighting the benefits of children’s attainment through good nutrition and hydration, UWL commended Kemp for his commitment to many of the industry’s leading charities and organisations. This includes: Springboard, Hospitality Action, the One and All Foundation and the British Hospitality Association, for which he focuses on championing positive change across the industry.

Kemp said: “I am immensely proud and grateful to receive this honour from the University of West London, it is truly humbling…

“Over the course of my 36 years in this great industry I have been privileged to witness many challenges, opportunities and experiences. This is a great industry and it’s given me not only the pleasure of working with some amazing people but also the opportunity to play an important part in raising awareness of key issues facing foodservice and hospitality.”

Chief executive of Bidfood, Andrew Selley, added: “What makes Andy unique is his absolute passion for the hospitality industry and for those who work within it…[He] is always prepared to go the extra mile to create a better future for hospitality, and the whole team at Bidfood is delighted that his efforts are being recognised today.”
