Abstract
The British Hospitality Association’s (BHA) Big Hospitality Conversation held at White Hart Lane on Tuesday, managed to secure 2,123 pledges taking the running total to 40,000.

Hospitality businesses and job seekers came together at the home of Tottenham Hotspur FC for a conversation designed to change lives. The conversation was attended by 250 young people aged between 16 and 24. An additional 750 aspiring hospitality workers attended the careers market that was run alongside the conversation.

Former Tottenham defender Ledley King represented the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, and said: “Tottenham Hotspur is committed to creating employment opportunities for local young people, and holding regular job fairs at an iconic venue like White Hart Lane is a great way of doing this.

“It was great for me to attend yesterday’s event and speak to the many young people who are looking for a new challenge in their careers and being able to offer them some advice that if you are willing to work hard, there is so much you are able to achieve.”

Of the 2,123 pledges made, 2,000 were job opportunities, 86 apprenticeships were made and 57 work experience placements were secured by Haringey’s young people.

Delivered in partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, Department of Work and Pensions and Haringey Council, this Big Hospitality Conversation is the first of its kind to be delivered in partnership with a Premier League football club.

The BHA hopes to achieve a further 20,000 career opportunities across the UK this year.
